Hunch Privacy Policy

Effective October 26, 2026

Hunch is a daily trivia game for iPhone. You can play without an account, and when you do, nothing about you or your play leaves your iPhone. This policy explains how Hunch gets each day's puzzle and what happens if you choose to create an account.

Without an account

Your answers and progress are saved only on your iPhone. Hunch has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it doesn't collect anything about you.

To play, Hunch downloads each day's questions from Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). That request carries no account, name or identifier of yours. As with any internet request, Google's servers see your device's IP address to answer it.

With an account

An account saves your stats so they follow you to a new iPhone. To do that, Hunch stores:

WhatWhy
Your email addressTo sign you in and, if you ask, to send a password reset email
An account IDTo keep your data together under your account
Your game history: the date of each puzzle, the questions in it, the option you chose for each, whether it was right, and when you answeredTo show your streaks and accuracy, and to sync them across your devices
When you last signed inTo keep your account record up to date

Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication and is never visible to us. We don't use any of this for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with anyone except the service that stores it.

Friends and the leaderboard

Friends are optional and need an account. If you use them, Hunch also stores:

WhatWho can see it
The display name you choose, and your friend codeAnyone you share your code with, and your friends
Your friend card: your display name, your points and the right/wrong tiles of each day you finished this week and last week, and your current streakOnly your friends
Your friends, the friend requests you sent and received, and the players you blockedOnly you (each friend's own list shows you)

Your friends never see your questions, your answers or your email address. You can remove or block a friend at any time, and report a player by email.

Signing in with Google

If you choose Continue with Google, Google confirms who you are and shares your email address, name and profile photo link with Hunch's sign-in service. Hunch uses only your email address and account ID; Firebase Authentication keeps the name and photo link with your login, and Hunch doesn't show or use them. Hunch never sees your Google password and asks Google for nothing else. When you delete your account, Hunch also removes its access to your Google account.

Signing in with Apple

If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple confirms who you are and shares only an email address with Hunch's sign-in service; Hunch doesn't ask for your name. If you choose Hide My Email, that address is a private one from Apple that forwards to your inbox, and Hunch never sees your real address. Hunch never sees your Apple Account password. When you delete your account, Hunch also revokes its Sign in with Apple access.

Where it's stored

Accounts and game history are stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), in the United States. Google processes this data on our behalf under its Firebase privacy terms. Security rules make sure each account can read and change only its own data.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Hunch, tap the account button, then Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, the game history saved to it, and your display name, friend code, friend card, friends, requests and blocks. Your iPhone keeps its own copy of your history, which you can remove by deleting the app.

We keep your data only as long as your account exists.

Children

Accounts are for people aged 13 and up. Hunch doesn't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
